PSHE/RSE

PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) is an integral and key aspect of the teaching, learning and personal development of our pupils.

Our PSHE curriculum is designed to ensure that our pupils are taught the knowledge and life skills they will need to stay safe and develop healthy and supportive relationships. Growing up in a world that is not only continually changing but becoming an online civilisation, it is essential that we equip our pupils with the necessary skills to become resilient, caring and respectful young people.

At Little Mead Primary Academy, we believe in providing our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to become a member of a diverse society.

To ensure progression and a spiral curriculum, we use Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE, as our chosen teaching and learning programme from EYFS - Year 6 and tailor it to the needs of our pupils. The Jigsaw programme offers us a comprehensive, carefully thought-through scheme of work which brings consistency and progression to our pupil's learning in this vital curriculum area.

The PSHE curriculum also includes the teaching of Relationships and Sex Education. This statutory element will help the children to develop safe and healthy relationships throughout their lives.

At Little Mead Primary Academy we encourage children to express their emotions appropriately, develop empathy and learn about the importance of looking after their physical and mental health.
