The Successful Candidate

Endeavour Academy Trust is looking to appoint a dynamic, creative, and flexible individual to join our team as a Pastoral Support Assistant.

This is an exciting new role which has been created as a part of the new Behaviour and Pastoral Support Team, which will support the Trust’s ethos of high aspirations for every child. The successful candidate will play an important part in enhancing the social and emotional needs of pupils to ensure they reach their academic potential. The post holder will run small interventions whilst supporting class teachers across the school.

While this role is not specifically a teaching post, there will be elements of supporting children with their work as provided by their teacher. Accordingly, there is no requirement for a teaching and learning qualification, but experience in an education setting is essential. Please see the person specification for full expectations of the successful applicant.

The Pastoral Support Assistant is responsible for:

  • Providing pastoral support for pupils who are exhibiting behaviour, emotional or social problems in school.
  • Implementing a range of strategies and solutions to ensure that these pupils can overcome their barriers to learning and maximise the opportunities provided for them in school.
  • Ensuring that pupils are integrated into their class and providing in-class support for pupils who are experiencing difficulties.
  • De-escalating incidents when a pupil is in crisis and providing emotional support and behaviour intervention for distressed or challenging pupils.
  • Liasing and communicating with class teachers and parents of the pupils the role is directly supporting.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and originality to provide a caring, safe and supportive environment.
  • Supporting behaviour management and pastoral care in the unstructured periods of the day (e.g. lunchtime, break time)
  • Working with external agencies to ensure that external support is provided.
