Play and Wellbeing Supervisor

Hours: 10 hours per week, 11.30am – 1:30pm, Monday-Friday, term time only

Actual Salary: £ 4,240.49 actual BG5 (NJC4 - 5)

Place of work: Initially based at Little Mead Primary Academy. However, all appointments are made to the Trust centrally

Contract: Permanent

The Successful Candidate

Little Mead Primary Academy is looking to appoint an organised and efficient individual to assist the Lunchtime Supervisor coordinating the Lunchtime Team to ensure that the lunchtime period runs smoothly, enabling pupils to enjoy their lunch breaks and return to class ready for the afternoon's teaching and learning.

In return we work hard to support our lunch time team and offer opportunities for professional training and development, career progression and the chance to play a key part in helping our children to get the most out of their lunchtimes.

The Play and Wellbeing Supervisor is responsible for;

  • Ensuring that pupils are well-supervised and safe during their lunch breaks;
  • Providing with high-quality, creative and safe play equipment;
  • Enabling children to enjoy their lunchtimes in a safe and positive environment without undue risk of harm or injury from poor behaviour or otherwise;
  • Coordinating first aid in line with best practice at all times
  • Giving the support and guidance to play safely outside (or inside in the case of ‘wet play’);
  • Implementing games to ensure that children enjoy their play times.  
  • Deputising for the Lunchtime Supervisor in their absence.
  • Keeping a record of school play equipment, ensuring that it is in good condition and safe
  • Ensuring  that  lunchtime  first  aid  containers  are  kept  well-stocked  and  that  new supplies are ordered when required.
  • Sourcing and ordering new play equipment/games and activities based on feedback from children, SMSAs and the SLT.
  • Setting out and tidying-up play activities to ensure that pupils make the most out of lunchtime resources.
  • Actively engaging in creative play with pupils, paying particular attention to children who seem to be struggling to involve themselves in play with their peers.
  • Monitoring and coordinating play rotas (football pitch, etc.) with the Lunchtime Supervisor.
  • Giving advice and supporting to members of the lunchtime team with regards to encouraging and supervising positive play and role model these qualities at all times.
  • Playing a key part in our school's health and safety processes;
  • Fulfilling general Lunchtime Assistant duties and helping children to interact positively with one another during lunchtimes.
  • Co-ordinating with Lunchtime Supervisor about any behaviour concerns.
