Library Lion

17th October 2018

A rather large lion arrived at school on Monday, along with his six cute cubs! His name is Lisani, (Swahili for to listen) and he lives in the school library where children may read to him.librarylion2

librarylion3Each of his cubs: George, Danny, Charlie, James, Sophie and Honey (named after characters from Roald Dahl stories), have been given to classes in Years 1-3 to look after. The cub goes home with a different child each week. The child then reads to the cub and records it in the cub’s own Reading Record. The idea is to encourage children to read more regularly at home. We are calling the cubs ‘Reading Cubs’.

The toys were bought by Mrs Roberts using a small grant awarded to the school from Greenway Community Practice in Southmead.

If a Reading Cub comes to your home, please take good care of him or her and happy reading!
