Temporary Catering Assistant

Hours: 16.25 hours per week

Factor / working weeks per year: term time and 4 cleaning days; 45.2 including holiday pay; 38.8 actual weeks per year;

Salary: NJC1 (actual basic salary: £6,977.64)

Holiday Allowance: 6.4 weeks of paid entitlement included in salary

Based at: Little Mead Primary Academy in the first instance. However, all roles are managed at Trust level.

Contract: Fixed term until 31/08/2021 pending a review of the school’s needs

About Us

Endeavour Academy Trust is an inclusive and collaborative group of schools in North Bristol. There are currently four Endeavour schools: Little Mead Primary Academy, Henbury Court Primary Academy, Fonthill Primary Academy and our brand-new primary school Charlton Wood Primary Academy.

The Successful Candidate

We are looking to recruit an experienced catering professional to work under the direction of the Catering Manager at Little Mead Primary Academy and across the trust. The successful candidate will assist in the day-to-day running of the kitchen and operate the school meals service to approximately 300 pupils, staff and visitors in various academies as required, following set menus and recipes, while adhering to any specific dietary requirements of the children.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about delicious, healthy food who can assist the kitchen managers in delivering our vision, and help to inspire our pupils and parents to eat healthy, delicious and exciting food, while adhering to Trust standards.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of Food Standards for Schools, experience of working in a team in a similar environment, and have a proven track record in sound operational catering practices. The role includes:

  • ability to understand and conform to the Trusts budgetary requirements where appropriate
  • flexible working hours and locations within the Trust
  • assisting in the preparation and service of school meals following Trust menus and recipes
  • reporting of any equipment maintenance, and health & safety issues to the line manager
  • completion of, and adherence to, all Trust policies and procedures, and all current legislation relevant to the catering industry

A positive, enthusiastic and proactive attitude is essential.
