The Successful Candidate

We are looking to recruit an ambitious and committed Teacher to work at Little Mead Primary Academy in the first instance. The successful candidate will initially cover classes across the school, although this is likely to become class-based in the future.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following: 

  • Evidence of good or better teaching.
  • High expectations of the children you teach and of yourself, professionally.
  • Excellent knowledge of the primary curriculum with secure subject knowledge to confidently teach able pupils as well as those with additional needs.
  • Secure understanding of the use of assessment to accelerate progress for ALL pupils.
  • A commitment to ’go the extra mile’ for our pupils.
  • A willingness to be part of a committed team and to play a full part in school life.

A positive, enthusiastic and proactive attitude is essential.

Catering Manager at Little Mead Primary Academy

Hours: 27.5 hours per week (5.25 hours over 5 days; 41 weeks per year pro rata (term time + all insets + 5 days kitchen deep cleaning (2 days before term 1; 1 day before term 2; 2 days before term 3)

Salary: £12,208.76 - £13,605.97 (Bristol Grade 7; approx. £9.37 - £10.44 per hour)

Holiday Allowance: 6.4 weeks of additional holiday pay per year (incl. bank holidays)

We are dedicated to providing outstanding support services for our schools. To that end, in October 2017 we will be bringing our catering service in-house to improve the quality of the provision. This is an exciting and ambitious project.

 

The Successful Candidate

We are looking to recruit an experienced catering professional to work under the direction of the Trust’s Executive Chef. The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day running of the kitchen and operate the school meals service to approx. 300 pupils, staff and visitors at Little Mead Primary Academy (in the first instance), following set menus and recipes, while adhering to any specific dietary requirements of the children.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about healthy and delicious food who can carry out our vision and enthuse our catering staff, helping to inspire our pupils and parents to eat healthy, delicious and exciting food. The successful candidate will have line management responsibilities including the training of existing and new employees to Trust standards, and, like all our leaders, they must be willing to lead by example.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of Food Standards for Schools, experience of leading and motivating a team and have a proven track record in sound operational catering practices. The role includes:

  • ability to understand and conform to the Trust's budgetary requirements;
  • all purchase management using designated suppliers;
  • assisting in future menu and recipe development;
  • completion and reporting of Trust bookwork and financial statistical information including stock control;
  • equipment maintenance; and
  • the completion, enforcement and monitoring of all Trust policies and procedures, and all current legislation relevant to the catering industry.

Lunchtime Assistant at Little Mead Primary Academy

Hours: 6.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday; with fortnightly team meetings). Term time only.

Salary: BG5 (equivalent to £2,319 per year).

Contract: Permanent.

Little Mead Primary Academy is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and motivated individual to:

  • build positive relationships with our children
  • support the children to enjoy their lunch breaks and return to class ready for the afternoon's teaching and learning
  • help the children to have a safe and healthy lunchtime experience.

In return we work hard to support our lunch time staff and offer opportunities for professional training, career progression and the chance to play a key part in helping our children to get the most out of their lunchtimes.
 
Our lunchtime staff are responsible for:

  • supervising pupils over the lunchtime period
  • leading and taking part in games and activities with the pupils
  • encouraging children to eat their meals
  • dealing with behavioural incidents in line with the school's Behaviour Policy and discussing concerns with class teachers or members of the Senior Leadership Team
  • playing a key part in the school's health and safety processes
  • helping children to interact positively with one another during lunchtimes.
